Role Description

Our Bridges and Civil Structures team has an reputation for technical excellence and innovation, delivering some of the most prestigious and challenging projects across the globe. We work with a diverse client base including, Department of Transport, Transport Scotland, National Highways, Welsh Government, Transport for London, Local Authorities, Major Civil Engineering Contractors and International Governments on schemes that are both technically demanding and high-profile. From rehabilitating critical infrastructure like the Brent Cross Flyover, designing landmark structures such as the Channel View Footbridge in Cardiff and working with industry experts to design complex structures like the launched Small Dean Viaduct. Our work has a tangible and lasting impact on the communities we serve. As a global multi-disciplinary company, we also work closely with other sectors across our global regions, using our UK technical expertise to support global projects in places like the US, Canada, Australia and mainland Europe.

Reporting to the Bridges Team Leader, you will provide technical support into assigned projects ensuring successful delivery of technically challenging schemes. As we operate in such a diverse marketplace, we can safely say that you will gain an experience of working on a wide and varied portfolio of projects, including new build and existing assets, which will enhance your skills and test your technical knowledge.

You will be responsible for leading and managing the delivery of projects to meet time, quality, budgetary and health and safety targets, managing all aspects of the client relationship so that delivery exceeds client expectations, providing both direction and technical advice and leading by example where appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Experience of providing technical leadership and advice to project team members
  • Experience of applying sound independent engineering judgement in the development of projects
  • Commercial awareness of engineering project delivery
  • Maintain and extend a sound theoretical approach to the application of technology in engineering practice
  • Discuss ideas and plan competently and with confidence
  • Effective personal and social skills
  • Experience of delivery to a project’s quality management system
  • Have a sound knowledge and experience of the management of design risks

Qualifications & Experience

  • Have a BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng or equivalent in Structural / Civil Engineering
  • Achieved Chartered or Incorporated Engineer professional status, or equivalent
  • Have previous relevant experience including supervision of elements of large, complex structural engineering projects - bridges, retaining walls etc across both new build and existing assets.
  • Experience of leading a team (around 5 Engineers), providing sound leadership support, whilst delivering on projects
