Level 4 Award in Retrofit Assessment for Domestic Dwellings and Older and Traditional Buildings

The qualification will enable learners to complete the requirements for assessing older and traditional buildings without the need to complete the separate level 3 qualification in assessing older and traditional buildings. Achievement of this qualification confirms the learner has gained the knowledge and skills required to gain employment as a Retrofit Assessor, progress onto Level 5 Retrofit Coordination qualifications & work on older and traditional buildings.

Course Outline

The NOCN Level 4 Award in Assessing Domestic Dwellings for Retrofit is a 9-credit qualification with a Total Qualification Time (TQT) of 90, including 35 Guided Learning Hours (GLH). This course consists of 8 mandatory units:

  • The Principles of PAS 2035, including for older and traditional buildings
  • Advice Requirements in the PAS 2035 Retrofit Process, including for Older and Traditional Buildings
  • The Retrofit Assessment Process, including for Older and Traditional Buildings
  • Ventilation and Energy Performance Requirements of Dwellings, including for Older and Traditional Buildings
  • Occupancy Assessments, including for Older and Traditional Buildings
  • Assessing the General Condition of Buildings and Dwellings, including for Older and Traditional Buildings
  • Retrofit Assessment Reporting, including for Older and Traditional Buildings
  • Domestic Retrofit Assessment Requirements for Older and Traditional Buildings

Course Pre-Requisites

This qualification is available to learners aged 18 years or over. Learners are required to have completed a Level 3 Qualification in Domestic Energy Assessment, and be registered as a Domestic Energy Assessor with a recognised accreditation body. Learners must be able to demonstrate the requirements of the qualification and have access to required assessment opportunities and relevant resources.

Qualification outcome

The qualification will enable learners to complete the requirements for assessing older and traditional buildings without the need to complete the separate level 3 qualification in assessing older and traditional buildings. Achievement of this qualification confirms the learner has gained the knowledge and skills required to gain employment as a Retrofit Assessor, progress onto Level 5 Retrofit Coordination qualifications & work on older and traditional buildings. Please note that there is currently funding available through WHSP for the DEA Course and Level 4 Retrofit Assessor for Older and Traditional Buildings.
